Just to be wierd, only my CDRW is on the scsi-ide system - the
DVD/CDROM is normal IDE:

[baz@flux baz]$ ls -l /dev/cdrom*
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root            8 Oct 27 20:37 /dev/cdrom -> /dev/hdc
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root            9 Oct 27 20:37 /dev/cdrom1 -> /dev/scd0
