Hi Richard,

my intention was to get a system running without any network (since ISDN
gives you trouble, beeing a part of the network in level 2). The idea
is: you swich your machine on, nice messages, then the system hangs,
trying to reach level 2 or 3. What do you do next? switch OFF?! If you
switch on again and tell the kernel you want another runlevel but 2/3 (1
or S) the network stuff wont be started and you end up with a machine in
Single or Multiuser (1) mode. Then you are able to log in, edit
/sbin/init.d/boot.local (I guess) and add modprobe pcitst there.
(again I guess it should be there) reboot and be hopefully happy. The
boot to level X discussion was on the suse-list some time ago and might
be found in the archive.
