Then assume it is init, I'm trying to remember back to my experience with
1.2 (I think)

Erm, you don't *definitely* need to compile; I just wondered whether or
not you'd updated it yourself. Always worth trying though, because
sometimes the compile will show up other errors that can be the root of
the problem. Also, the thing about the error message that bugged me was
that there was a space between the ' and the path. Usually it is
completely encapsulated (i.e. '/usr/..', not ' /usr/...') which can
sometimes be a pointer to some bad file shenanigans.

I seem to recall I decent book (prolly. O'Reilly) that was on the subject
of un*x security, I think it was based around the satan tool, because
satan is aimed at a slightly different use than tripwire - tripwire allows
you to find out what's been tampered with once crackers have got into the
system; satan can help you stop crackers getting in the first place.

I'm not sure I'd go quite *that* far about sheffield. . . ;))

Alex.
