Re: help again'
Um, after following this thread, I'm wondering what the advantages of
using kppp are?
Of course, I use Debian myself, so I have my own `pppconfig' crutch
(which so far has always gotten it right as long as I've given it
correct information). And the `pon' wrapper is convenient. But the
config program writes to the standard places, and the pon wrapper is
part of the pppd distribution, so may be considered standard.
It seems that KDE likes proliferating wrappers so that you can never
get away from the letter K. Haven't we learned anything from
Microsoft, like what not to do?

This sounds to me like either
(a) some helper application that sets up the network protocols needs
to be setuid isn't (not very likely, but you might check on pppd)
(b) there is a list of authorized ppp users somewhere that you need to
add your personal user to

Make sure that any usernames in the kppprc file are correct; it's easy
to confuse your local username with the remote (this seems highly
unlikely because I really doubt your user on the ISP is root ;-)

KDE archiver? ` tar --extract --use-compress-program=bzip2 -file=...'
is a bit to type, but....

I don't know if this has been rationalized yet, but historically the
syslog.conf format required the internal whitespace to be TABs, not
SPACEs.

Or change them later ;-)
