Netware and Linux

Does anyone have any experience of accessing NDS (Netware Directory
Services) from Linux ?

I'm trying to setup a Linux desktop configuration which gives us all
the applications, tools, etc that we have under 'doze.

Currently, we use NAL (Netware Application Launcher) to present users
with 'their' application. So you don't have a program manager (W31) or
a long list of things in 'Start->Programs' (W32), you just have this
one screen/window the user can pick their apps from.

This means we can setup users in groups, etc very simply from any
site.

So what I'm looking for is either a way of doing this under Linux (I
had thoughts about using a users NFS mount, but you'd have to alter
everyones KDE Desktop on a one by one basis - probably.)

Or a way of being able to use the Netware objects still, handle
permissions, apps, etc.

Any ideas ?
How do people handle permissions for different groups, users, etc to
different apps, on-the-fly ?

The nice thing about Windows is that it doesn't just crash.
It displays a dialogue box and lets you click OK first.
