Another modem? Yes. Get one with some hardware in it this time as well ;)
Winmodems are cheap pieces of nastyness that make the processor do all of
the owrk the modem ought to be doing. You'll find using a real modem will
improve your internet speed also, since the processor can do stuff like
displaying pages without having to worry about the modem signals.
Winmodems *may* work with linux in the future, but it's fairly unlikely,
so if I were you I'd get a proper one.

Same also goes for winprinters, actually, any piece of hardware called
win(whatever). It's not linux's fault, it's just manufacturers trying to
drop the price of the hardware by leaving out as much as possible. You get
what you payfor, as always. . .
