I have been using diald for over 2 years now and recently re-installed it on a
fresh installation of Mandrake.

What troubles can I help you with?

My current installation procedure is basicly as follows (applies to
RedHat/Mandrake):

1. Set up PPP so that it works. Note - this is NOT KPPP which does its own
magic. Under Redhat, you need to either set it up manually or use linuxconf or
the control-panel do set it up. Make sure PPP works and dials up coorectly on
a manual basis.

2. Install diald - I am using diald-0.99.1. I compiled and installed it from
scratch from the archive file. Do not configure it.

3. Install the diald-config RPM. I am using diald-config-1.2.1-1

4. Install the diald-config-metered RPM. I use diald-config-metered-0.2-2

5. Start diald with /etc/rc.d/init.d/diald start

Thats it!

I also use (under X) the start-dctrl proggie to bring up a nice little
dialdcontrol panel.
