Help with NIS.
Can anyone shed any light on this;
I''ve followed the NIS-HOWTO and the docs that came with NIS, but to
now avail.
o I keep getting YPBINDPROC_DOMAIN: Domain not bound
when I try to logon on any client.
o I know ypserv is running on the server, and rpcinfo -p thor
(thor being the server) returns;
program vers proto port
100000 2 tcp 111 rpcbind
100000 2 udp 111 rpcbind
545580417 1 udp 676 bwnfsd
545580417 1 tcp 678 bwnfsd
100005 1 udp 705 mountd
100005 2 udp 705 mountd
100005 1 tcp 708 mountd
100005 2 tcp 708 mountd
100003 2 udp 2049 nfs
100003 2 tcp 2049 nfs
100009 1 udp 715 yppasswdd
100004 2 udp 721 ypserv
100004 1 udp 721 ypserv
100004 2 tcp 724 ypserv
100004 1 tcp 724 ypserv
So I know clients can ask for rpc type info.
o The NIS domain is set correctly on the server and clients as per the
output from 'nisdomainname'.
o ypwhich simply returns the error message above.

The nice thing about Windows is that it doesn't just crash.
It displays a dialogue box and lets you click OK first.
