SUSE and UDMA

Hi all,
I have SUSE 6.1 on my PC, and I am using a 4Gb UDMA HD.
I noticed last night that when I booted the system that a message flew
by saying UDMA disabled.
My question is:
a) How do I turn on the UDMA in Linux?
b) How do I see the startup messages so I can read them?
