CD Problem

Morning All
I have a problem and wonder if you could help me. Last week
I made a couple of improvements to my PC. First I replaced my old
Panasonic 2x CD which was starting to die with a nice new IDE 40x one.
Once I got that working I upgraded my RedHat 6.0 to 6.1. While upgrading
the new RedHat hardware detector Kudzu saw my CD IDed it as a LTN382
and said it would add support for it.

All appeared OK until later in the day when I decided to listen
to some MP3's on a CD. Every 10 seconds or so the CD light flashes
as data is read but also the hard drive LED also flashes and there
is an annoying break or soft click from my speakers. As you can imagine
this is very annoying. At first I thought this was related to X but I
have found it when running console MP3 players also. I have checked
and the same MP3 files play fine under Windows 95.

Has anybody any idea what is causing this or how I could cure it ?
In case it is important my CD is the master on the secondary IDE port
also music CD's play fine.

Thanks for your time.
