X Terminals help appreciated

I have been volunteered(?!) to investigate whether it is workable for our
company to migrate from Windoze95 to Linux. I am a complete Linux novice,
other than what I have learnt over the preceding month or two, but I am
convinced that it _would_ be worthwhile for us to make that migration - at
least in part.
The Linux distribution that we are working with is Mandrake-Linux 6.0

Our company has 20-30 employees, many of whom are not computer literate. We
have an ancient Nova mini-computer for much of our accounting and customer
database which is the MD's baby and will remain for the foreseeable
future. Many of the computer illiterate here, log on to that system via
VT100 terminals, and it is for this reason that I think any Linux set up we
go to would best be as a main server with user access via PC as X
Terminals. This system is not so drastically different from the Nova system.

I am currently trying to configure a Linux OS'ed PC to access another by
this method (using xdm) but am struggling to find the right level of
documentation to do this. As a Linux newbie I don't have the prior depth of
knowledge assumed by some of the HOWTOs etc.

Can you please point me in the right direction?

Eternally grateful for any help..
