Thanks Alex, i had actually looked at KDevelop, but since i need to
download the file onto a network at Sheffield University I thought I
would leave it until I return to my Home Town of Frodsham in
Cheshire, after which I will let you know.

I didn't realise that commands such as printf should appear in the man
pages, I assumed that the man pages only gave information on command
which are usable in bash.
