Re: Hauppauge WINTV cards and their setup

Now then, let me think...

I have got rid of my TV card now, so I'm working from memory, but i'll
try my best.

Try this:

su to root (or log in as root)

type: insmod bttv mem=e50 (modprobe doesn't seem to work)

try running kv4lsetup, kwintv, or xawtv. These all come with SuSE 6.2
(same distro I used, so it should all work)

You should get something then, but I could only get channel 4 :-)

You may well have more luck than I did, because I was using a Modtech TV
card, which is Hauppage 'compatible'. Also, the SuSE 2.2.10 kernel has
video 4 linux already compiled in (at least, mine did), but you may have
to compile it as a module first.

Try running kv4lsetup and such in a terminal window, because they both
provide great debugging info, such as even suggesting the command line
parameters for insmod.

Let me know if this works, because like I said, mine never did. At
least, not properly.
