Kernel compilation problems on Debian

The compiler probably doesn't have much to do with the problem.

Wisdom is little help without facts. We need to know (at a minimum):

(1) Which Linux kernel version are you building? (It is a _Linux_
kernel and not Solaris or NetBSD, right? That would explain a
lot! ;)
(2) Did you use make-kpkg?
(3) Did you use the same kernel version as the original Debian? If
not, which Debian kernel did you use?
(4) Did you use the same .config? If not, what options did you
change?

Get the Debian kernel-source and relevant kernel-patch packages, find
the .config, and send that. Also send the .config you are currently
trying to install.
