If I understand correctly, all you need to do is to use the
rescue disk and boot up your computer to the old kernel. Then, you just
re-compile a new kernel without bootp, and lilo it up. That should be
all. Unless your rescue disk also has the new kernel, in which case
the solution might be to use the distribution installation CD or some 1
floppy linux distro to get the same result.
