Pine does pop3 and imap, you're best dealing with local sendmail (or equiv
like smail/exim) which will convert local hostname aliases,
poptart/fetchmail/pop3client etc can run from, cron to fill a sendmail style
maildir, this is all very multiuser too.

Sending to your ISP's mailserver should work as per windows (almost all
outgoing email is still sendmail's SMTP) using netscape's built in email
client is the best way to test pop3 email.

Pegasus for DOS worked under DOSEMU for the past number of years flawlessly,
Pegasus for Windows has worked under Wine for several years too, if you get a
binary of wine, configure it as per the documentation on line and what should
come with it, then type 'wine /cmountpoint/progra~1/pmail.exe' where
/cmountpoint/progra~1 is the path do the binary for pmail. My dad does this
for Demon's Turnpike. I use pine as I work at the command line from remote
places like moors, with my nokia9110, and 9600 is too slow for VNC to it for
a GUI mail client.
