Mail is queued (q'd for short :D) by sendmail. Since when you
hit "send", the message is passed on to sendmail, he will keep it
somewhere safe and upload it when he sees fit :) (which when you see fit
to issue "sendmail -q").
sendmail -q gets the q moving. You can always automate this so
that whenever you open a PPP connection, all your e-mail is sent
automatically. As it's quite a long time I've last used PPP, I can't
give you any details though.
