98 doesn't do that. It's NT that does that. 95/98 and NT all install
themselves over the MBR, happily ploughing their way through whatever
used to exist there, but it's only NT that won't boot unless the
MBR contains the requisite magic number. It _is_ possible to install
lilo on the MBR of an NT machine, but not so easy.
