You'll be using something like gas or nasm - not a compiler, an assembler.
You'll already have it on your system. You'll need to find out how to
create headers & such like as well, a good place is the linux assembly
project. Can't remember the url, I'm afraid, tho' I'm sure google would
bring it up.
