At last - it works!
Hello everyone,
Just a big thanks to everyone who helped sort out my various
modem/monitor/video-card/Linux type of problems, for now everything appears
to work rinky-dink. XF86Setup was very, very useful.
If someone could now recommend a book on programming under Linux then I'll
be very grateful. I used to programme in C and Pascal some years ago so
have some programming knowledge. I'll probably just get 'Beginning Linux
Programming', which I believe was recommended here before. I was hoping to
tackle C, Perl and Java - stuff like that. Oh, actually, whilst I'm here -
is there a Linux equivalent of Macromedia Dreamweaver? I'm after some kind
of web-writing tool, and I'm guessing there's loads of 'em out there, but if
someone could point me in the right direction then I'll be most
appreciative.
Anyway, thanks for all your help.
Jonathan.
