I thought that packages managers meant you didn't have to search like this
on Distro sets? Under Debian dselect, if a loaded package had dependancies
and those dependancies where part of the distro and not already installed,
they would be selected for you (with option to override, natch). No
searching, just a clean package management system. Isn't it the same with
redhat?
This sort of scratching around for stuff, is what us un-reconstructed
neandethal *.tar.gz source junkies are "happy" doing :-)
We had an discussion on this list not so long ago about the way that pkg
management systems were a "must" to get over exactly this sort of
occurance - mmmmmmm.......
