(Inpects message) Hmm. tut tut tut tut...

(sucks air through teeth) Weeell, you see guv'nor, yer kernel there is
trying to read past the end of the device. Doesn't like that, no sir.

Device 2:00 .. probably fd0? Mmm, it's buggered. Either the floppy disk is
'kaput' (technical term, that) or the drive itself is jiggered. Notice the
difference between 'buggered' and 'jiggered' - they're not the same.
buggered: [adj.] faulty; non repairable. See: paper-weight.
jiggered: [adj.] stressed; hammered. Needs TLC.
Likely that your floppy needs the head realigned (pass me the screwdriver
;) or possibly just the dust blown out. I've not seen a broken floppy
drive yet, although people complain about them all the time. They're rock
solid, floppy drives, can't really knacker them without doing something
silly[1].
Cheers,
Alex.
[1]: Suitable example: pull back metal shutter on a disk. Staple the media
inside (Yes, with a stapler, preferably staple-gun). Insert into machine.
(clunk). Your working/jiggered drive is now buggered.
