Which Sound Card?

Having tried a mod tracker program on Windows today I discovered
that the sound quality deteriorated with the amount of changes on
the display. I wonder if the server client nature of X compounds this
problem under linux thus causing my MP3 problems, but thats not
really the point of this email.

I did read that there are some motherboards, if they have onboard
video and sound, obviously mine included, do not allocate sufficient
bus resources for the sound, or its shared with the video, or
something. This explains the problem. The solution, I hope, is to
install a new soundcard. Im not a big sound fan, I just want
something that wont reduce the quaility for no good reason.
Obviously i want it to work under Linux. I have SuSE 6.3 so alsa
and the oss registered isa drivers.

What should I buy. (Think cheap)
