Or download
ftp://www.se.opensound.com/pub/oss/linux/osslinux393f-glibc-2214-UP.tar.gz
To your home directory
Then de-tar in to a directory
(mkdir blah ; cd blah ; tar zxf ~/osslinux393f-glibc-2214-UP.tar.gz)
Then run the install (./install-oss)
and follow the basic menu driven system, you don't need to install it, but it
will before then have already autodetected your soundcard and given you the
settings needed for when you compile sound support in to your kernel. Just
look under the menus for the details.
I use this as it's sometimes faster than unscrewing the case. I'm surprised
nobody has as good a version of an opensource sound card detecting package.
generally if Windows can do it, it's possible.
