DSP programming with Linux
Hi all!
I'm sure someone must have some idea on the subject! I have had
some experience with PIC uC in the past, using a simulator in MS-DOS. I
have found out that there are some nice PIC utils lying around, so that
has minimized any interest I might have ever had in my DOS partition.
There's still two areas that I need to cover: the speccy emulator :-)
and DSP chip programming. The first one is getting closer :-), and now
that I have got hold of Amiga ROMs, the lack of a really nice speccy
emulator for Unix might be somehow mitigated.
It's the DSP programming that is annoying: everywhere I look,
they seem to assume that you are using a Windows box. I know that ports
of gcc exist for TS3020?? and some others. I just wanted to know what's
the easy option to actually program one of these evaluation boards, so
that we can have an emacs frontend to the assembler/linker (or even C
compiler? I read one such thing exists) that downloads all the stuff to
the board and controls it. A number of projects exist to do this, but
they all seem to implement "low level" bits and bobs of the general
idea.
Any help would be appreciated,
José
