Re: DEC alphas
I must confess to wanting an Alpha, but sadly there just doesn't seem
to be enough competition in the market. Compusys the only vendor I've
come across has had the same price and system spec for it's Linux
workstation for at least 6 months on it's website. It's fairly nice EV5
machine on offer. My plan is to wait till the EV7's come out (end of
this Year I think) then hopefully get a cheapish EV6 and UP1000 mobo.
then I should just be able to reuse most of the gear I have in this
box. the problem will be finding someone, in this country willing to
sell me one. firsthardware.co.uk seem to be the main trade dealer in
this country. The LX mobo has gone end of life so if you can find one
it shouldn't be that expensive. you can get all the specs at
alpha-processor.com.
If you do find anyone selling these do tell :-)
