pnm is almost 5 years old the new fangled (but also getting old now) is
rtsp:// which is what I'm working on at the moment with my linux encoders
whenever I get time between the dull work.
My first experience of realaudio (as it was origionally) was cool. I'd heard
about it after setting up my ip_masq isdn linux network while working for
ICL, I installed raplayer but had not yet set the mime types in netscape (version 2 I
think) when I clicked on the link, which was to a ram file it popped up a
download window for an instant. I knew the ISDN was fast but that didn't
make sense and I assumed that it was just a really short bit of audio. I
carried on what I was doing with other things and let the dial-on-demand
setup idleout while I had a drink. Later I came backup and typed raplayer
filename.ram and up it started, playing a really cool quality piece of music
for .. ages ?! I checked the filesize and saw it was about 50 bytes!! I
glanced over at the lights on the external isdn box and it dawned on me....
