Re: suSE novice



Alex' solution below is one way but I'd do the following :

Boot using a boot floppy made from one of the images on the CD and run the
text-mode installation. You'll soon get to the "Start Installation" menu
which contains an item "Boot installed system". Select this and tell it
where linux was installed - assuming it's on the same disk as Windows this
is likely to be /dev/hda3 but could be different from this - it'll say so
& refuse to boot, so just try different values till you hit paydirt.
Likely values are /dev/hda3, /dev/hda4 and /dev/hda5.

Once up & running use Yast to configure lilo (unless you're happy to do
this yourself). You can make Windows the default boot OS by putting it
first. Yast should put in the correct / (root) path itself.
