turbolinux 6.0.2 workstation
I had a play with the Cheeplinux disks from the Linux Emporium last night
- funny how they were "cheeper" than at Cheeplinux! Anyhow, installer very
reminiscent of RH5, annoying lack of integrated admin tool - you have a
bunch of scripts like "turbousercfg" and "turboxcfg" instead. Even more
irritating is the use of Gnome as default WM. The TL wm select script
simply fires off Gnome as well. Stll, a quick visit to .xinitrc to
comment out the wm line & bung in "exec $WINDOWMANAGER" gave control back
to me.
It does seem faster than SuSE, presumably because it's Pentium optimised
like Mandrake etc. ? Otherwise it's no great shakes, glad it was only a
fiver.
Next on the "give it a go" list is FreeBSD 4.0.
