Subject: Desktop Linux

We have started a project, that is being managed by Alain Williams, that
is examining the issues of deploying Linux on the desktop.

It is proposed that Linux be configured to enable a secure desktop for
office productivity applications. Subsequently Linux will be configured
with at smart card reader and with some form of biometrics.

A major purpose of the group is for members to share experiences
deploying Linux on the desktop.
