Doesn't default just read /etc/fstab? In which case, you do just create the
device icon. Mounting & unmounting then becomes a matter of right-click menu
(for manual control), or supermount / mountd-thingy (automatic control,
denoted by grey mount squares rather than green). I'm sure that works,
doesn't it?
