Have you tried to mount it under Linux?  You could at least confirm
that there is a sensible file system on the disc.  If neither iso9660
nor msdos works, you're probably out of luck.

(My bets are on iso9660, but publishers in financial trouble have been
known to do some really strange things to protect their IP!)
