It was quite common to see adverts in pubs or outside them offering 'Free
Beer Tomorrow' - there is still one on a wall in Maltby dating from the
1600's if I'm not mistaken. This was done as an incentive to the less bright
customers but, of course, 'Tomorrow' never came. I've no doubt that, among
certain educational groups, such a message might have drawn them and their
friends to certain pubs ;o}
