The whole point of meetings and our twice a year demo days is that you
can bring your machine along if you want to :-)
We don't encourage the burning of CDs in public because what happens
is that Joe Soap public comes along or a private investigator is
employed to screw the LUG by getting hold of the CDs. They get the
CDs home and then they tell everyone that "Linux doesn't work" or they
say "Sheffield Linux User's Group doesn't have a clue". The second
one is the one that is nearly always heard. We don't need any of this
at all ?? Apart from this when we go to Blackwell's for our meetings
we are bound by retail law if we hand out CDs. That means that any
goods that are faulty could be reported to a higher authority. We
don't want the trading standards officer chasing us up and down the
street do we ?
If you do want to burn CDs then you go ahead :-) As long as you don't
mention Sheflug we should be OK.
I hope that you don't think that I'm being rude but if we do things
this way then we are safe and the commercial Linux people get the
glory as well as us :-) In fact Red Hat did send over some 6.1 CDs
for free. These are on the shelf at Blackwell's bookshop at West
Street along with the SuSE demo CDs. You might want to go over there
to get hold of one ?
Thanks
