Before it came out, or after? IE5/Mac is now *the* web development
standard - I can see there will be no few number of web design
professionals going out buying G4's (if they haven't already!) just to get
IE5/Mac..

Now that *is* completely different ;). Office/Mac was awful, agreed. Point
about Opera - agreed too. As I said, Konq is currently my hope for Linux
browsing. Have a look at kde.org - it looks *really* good.

I think you're suffering from a bit of selective memory there, Richard ;))
Remember the Quadra? The Newton? And now we have iMac DV/SEs, etc. The G4
alone is a stunning piece of design. Mac OS X looks extremely good also (I
encourage people to have a look at the movies in the gallery on apple.com
- there's now a dedicated OS X button to get there - just seeing the thing
move brings tears to my eyes!). The amount of MS stuff on the Mac is
pretty minimal - in fact, the main thing MS brought to the Mac was money.
Sad to say, but if it wasn't for MS, Apple would have gone bust. Now
they're getting back on track and hopefully will be a force in the
computer industry once again.

Cheers,

Alex.
