I saw that too. I kept forgetting (due to loads of work) to reply to this
thread.
I've tried Mozilla-M1? and netscape6 and I found that whereas in Mozilla you
de-tar and run ./mozilla-run, in netscape6 despite having mozilla-run I found
it complained about missing jpg like libraryies but with ns in the lib name,
it was obvious to me to run ./netscape which was a wrapper that no doubt
included LD_LIBRARY_PATH=`pwd`;export LD_LIBRARY_PATH to include the reading
Of the just-downloaded extra libs.
You might find all this upgrading jpeg libs was a complete waste of time and
that the answer was simple, note that the library inquestion was not
libjpeg.so anyway.
I find that if anything is starting to look complicated when it shouldn't be,
or if other people found it easy, then you're doing something completely
wrong.
It can be a fun learning experience especially if you get something working
the wrong way, which would normally mean you've repeated work somebody else
wrote a script to make life easier for.
.ANYWAY.. ns6 is pointless it's older than the latest Mozilla snapshot and
the _ONLY_ difference I could see was the name and that rather than you get a
fancy animated logo in the right corner that was voted for and a prize
awarded for the design you get NS's old crap logo. Pointless, get Mozilla
M15 ot 16 or whatever, realize that Gtk+ sucks and then run qtscape :)
<rant>I only use a gui browser for the odd bit of work I can't do in 80x24
text. NS allows me to quickly view page info for a page's FORM ACTION tags
and to back quickly with the right mouse and slight movement down then let
go. Middle click on a link for spawn new browser is cool too. ALL of these
don't exist in other browsers including Mozilla, I really don't get it, it's
crap I don't know what they're doing!!</rant>
