Yeah, but most phones don't do that. There's about one series I can think
of that does - practically 99% of phones use open GSM standards. If you
have an irda phone that doesn't work with linux, you're extremely unlucky.
BTW, you can get irda ports for usb / etc., usually only about 20 quid.
Additionally, most motherboards have support for them. This may mean
anything from plugging an ir transceiver onto the pins provided to having
to trace the lines & put your own connector on the motherboard, but many
mobos support it.
