[Sheflug] [Amended] Richard rips random wires out of his network ...

.. and wonders why it isn't working any more.

Change the address back to what worked?

Why are you trying to change the address of the SuSE box? Can't you
just live with the 192.168.0.99 address? or some other address on
192.168.0.*?

Changing subnets means

(1) you need to change the routing on _all_ boxes that talk directly
to that box (presumably that is just the gateway, you haven't
mentioned your gateway configuration) so that they can see the
    changed box
(2) your gateway needs to be on the same subnet as the problem box, or
you can manually set a route to the gateway
(3) maybe other tweaks which are rarely required on modern HANs

netstat on SuSE said:

Well, you can't even see the gateway from here; you have no route to
the 192.168.1.* subnet.

su on the SuSE box and do `route add -host 192.168.1.1 eth0'. If that
doesn't help, you probably need to set a route on the gateway to SuSE
box.

If you're going to rely on other people and "smart tools" to configure
your system, _rely_ on them and don't try to grab the wheel from the
back seat, OK?
