Firstly, quick way to make the network work: change the ip address back
the way it was ;) I can't believe you have more than 250-odd machines on
your network, you can surely spare an IP address or two in the 192.168.0.x
subnet??
As for changing the routing (assuming you want to keep the new ip
address), probably the easiest method is to go into YaST and change it
there. If you don't, YaST may go on the rampage and change some of your
settings, or make them 'not stick': that could be what's happening. Go to
the network device configuration screen (where you specify the network
card driver, interface, ip address, etc.) and change the netmask to either
255.255.254.0 or 255.255.0.0 as suggested. You'll need to do this on both
machines if you're expecting packets to go both ways ;) (usually a helpful
situation). But as I said, the easiest way is to change the ip address
back the way it was... ;)
Cheers,
Alex.
