[Sheflug] Re: Network Goes on Holiday



Dear all

Well, I've done everything to the Debian box and SuSE box that can be
done. 
 
* unplugged the power to the ethernet hub
* changed netmask on the SuSE machine
* network address is 192.168.1.2
* /sbin/init.d/route stop
* /sbin/init.d/route start
* rcnetwork restart

I've done everything esle that I can think of.  I can't ping one
machine to the other one.  The whole thing was working find until I
reconfigured the network address with YaST.  Nothing has worked since
then.

I give up.  netstat -r says......

SuSE machine
Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway   Genmask     Flags MSS Window irtt Iface
192.247.47.47 *   255.255.255.255  UH    - -        0    ippp0
192.168.1.0   *   255.255.255.0    U     0 0        0    eth0
loopback      *   255.0.0.0        U     0 0        0    lo

I notice that this produces an IP address of 192.168.1.0 but that is a
destination IP.
