Hmm, I guess it's different to the NTL cablemodem network (AKA
cableoffline).

I've had the cablemodem service since last August, and it was an
excellent service *Until* NTL launched there free dialup system. At the
start it was ok, other than totally changing their network class without
mentioning it.

Now, it's a very sad story.

NTL have severe outages *every* day, lasting upwards from an hour.
Usually it's just (!?) their router gives up. Sometimes the whole
headend takes a dive and the cablemodem loses comms. Always my dhcpcd
gets bored with waiting and dies, which is very annoying since the
machine looses connectivity until I spot it when I get home.
