[Sheflug] ftp problems.
Another one I think bounced 1st time...
OK, since ftp is the discussion topic of the moment I may as well try
and fix my config whilst I'm getting reminders...
After not paying any attention to the type of transfers being done by
M$'s ftp (i.e. defaulting to ASCII, not binary Doh!) - I've had to
reinstall everything.
My freshly installed ftpd is now being wierd.
If I ftp to "192.168.0.1" (my main box) - everything is hunky-dory
[baz@flux baz]$ ftp 192.168.0.1
Connected to 192.168.0.1.
220 flux.localdomain FTP server (Version wu-2.6.0(1) Fri Jun 23 09:17:44
EDT 2000) ready.
530 Please login with USER and PASS.
530 Please login with USER and PASS.
Name (192.168.0.1:baz):
...although slightly slow.
Although if I connect to "flux.localdomain" (the same machine) it all
goes pear-shaped.
I've tried this from other machines to flux (using my PPP assigned IP
instead of the useless hostname) when I'm online.
[baz@flux baz]$ ftp flux.localdomain
Connected to flux.localdomain.
421 Service not available, remote server has closed connection
ftp>
Does any one know whats going on?
Please don't tell me it's blasted routing tables again - never quite
figured all that out!!
Baz.
