[Sheflug] Help with ftp and MSIE5.5

Linux: I'm running SuSE6.3 and in.ftpd.

I've got MS IE5.5 on several desktops which supports drag and drop ftp. I
can sucessfully copy files on to the server if I open up an ftp window (with
a URL like ftp://sfin:<passwd> [at] 192.168.1.xx) and the files copy OK (they're
there - you can see them in a terminal session or whatever).

When I refresh IE5.5 (press F5) or close and open the session, the files
don't display, but they're still there.

I've seen exactly the same behaviour with wu.ftpd on a different machine (on
SuSE6.0). To make matters more complicated, if I ftp files to my own account
(the sfin account is one I've set up especially), everything works properly,
so it appears not to be a MSIE problem, or is it?

I can't help thinking it's permission related, but to verify that, I set all
permissions to 0777 on existing files and relevant user directories (the
group and owner on /home/sfin look fine as well). Oh, I shoudl also add that
sfin is listed in /etc/ftpchroot as well.

I'd welcome any suggestions, because I'm getting to the "tearing out of
hair" stage :-) Fortunately, I've got plenty!
