Well, what's happened is that I've got a 1Gb drive on that machine and
the installation that I tried out needs 1.5Gb.  So, it's a hung
installation.  Leaving me to find which bits didn't make it to the
hard drive.

I'm going to sort this out in a week or two by putting an 8Gb drive
into my notebook.

One of the things that I find amusing just now is that Compaq are very
much the MS Windows notebook people. So, putting Linux into one of
their machines is very radical from their point of view.
