Yep, I got that from an URL embedded in an earlier reply, downloaded the
image, burnt it onto CD (I don't have Linux internet access at home yet, nor
do I have Linux at work), took it home, mounted it, extracted the image and
dd'd it to /dev/fd0; result: not a boot disk. So I gave up on that
one--maybe I wasn't supposed to boot with it, but if not, I had no idea what
to do with it. I'm trying out a boot floppy that a colleague has built for
me and I'll let you kind folks know if/when I get RH6.2 installed.
Thanks for your clarifications on installing a new kernel: I know think I
understand more or less how it is supposed to work, and I just succeeded in
recompiling my kernel and making a boot disk from it.
The feedback I'm getting from this group is at least 100 times faster and
more informative than the SuSE helpdesk that was the main reason I bought
their Linux from them....
cheers,
Matt.
