Basically it's a zip (or gzip maybe?) file created by a java tool called
"jar". It comes with kaffe and any JDK. Also available is a tool called
fastjar, that's like jar but is written in C so it's a decent speed.
You can also run jar files directly with "java". It should autodetect but
some JREs require a runtime switch.
