Linux and its Use in Astronomy

The talk will outline some of the concepts and measurement methods in
present day astronomy. There will also be examples of Linux software
including xplus and nightfall, and I'll show Xephem working.

Booting with GRUB

To explain how booting works, whether with GRUB or with LILO, I've got
a short presentation about booting in general. GRUB is a boot loader
that was not written specifically for Linux, but it does know a lot
about Linux. It can make use of some features that have only recently
been added to LILO, and it understands file systems and networking.
GRUB is sometimes useful as a disaster recovery tool.

Please remember to sign in and to sign out, so that security do not
have to search the building for missing persons!
