[Sheflug] Problems with networking SuSE 7.0...
Hello,
I've installed SuSE linux 7.0 (pro), and being newish to linux am a bit
stuck.
The machine's on a network with two Win98 machines, one of which is set up
as a DHCP server (Microsoft Internet Sharing - don't ask - BT Openworld only
supports Win98 at the moment :()
The linux box boots fine, and gets its IP address, default gateway etc. The
web proxying etc is working perfectly. All machines can ping each other
with no problems.
BUT... when I try to telnet or ftp to the linux box, it 'connects'
instantly, and then waits for a couple of minutes before giving me a login
prompt. Also, running 'netstat -r' on the linux console takes a few minutes
(although does eventually give me sensible routing info).
Any ideas? I don't think I've done anything too unusual since it was
installed (I don't think it was ever working properly).
Regards,
Ric Searle
