ok..... so your modems ok, it's just a config issue......
i recently installed Debian onto an old 386 laptop from floppy disks.......
it went great.....
at the end of the initial install, it sets up the dialup connection for
you... easier than KPPP!!!
you can then download the software you want instead of being lumbered with
all sorts of kak.....
hope this helps (but it does take time!)
PS
before sending mail from outlook, you can select "format/plain" from the
menu bar... (should keep Richard quiet for a while :-)
