Might work; I've never used it. But if the machines are always going to be 
connected, and there are only those few, then static routes are just as good. 
Failing that, stick routed on all the machines, setting the gateway up with 
the master routing table. :)

I've never used routed though, so I don't know what its like.

But to end all this speculation, the short answer to Barry's question of:

"Can I access machine #6 from any machine, or would I have to log into
	machine #5 to get access to machine #6?"

is:
	"machine 6 can be access from any machine".

Well...Barry never asked "how" it to achive this in the long run :)
